Anzac Cottage - Mount Hawthorn
Masterplan was also proud to sponsor the 90th Birthday celebrations for “Anzac Cottage”, Western Australia’s oldest war memorial. The house was built in a single day by the community of Mount Hawthorn and given to a wounded serviceman, Private William Porter in 1916 on the first anniversary of the Anzac landing at Gallipoli. It was restored to its original condition by the Vietnam Veterans Association and its birthday celebrated in style by amongst others the descendents of Private Porter. The cottage was the subject of a children’s picture book published in 2007.
